Our Process

Our Stewardship Pillars

In our tequila-making process, we transform agave waste byproducts into energy for our distillery, enriching the soil in our agave fields and helping to conserve the resources of the Jalisco Highlands.

Minimizing waste

Over 99% Waste Repurposed: We upcycle, recycle, or reuse more than 99% of the waste generated from producing our tequila.

Agave Fiber to Biofuel: We convert leftover agave fibers into biofuel. This biofuel powers the biomass boilers used for the cooking, extraction, and distillation processes at our Arandas facility.

Liquid Byproduct Reborn as Fertilizer: The post-distillation liquid (vinasse) is treated and transferred to local farmers for use as natural fertilizer. This practice supports the land and the future of agave farming, mitigating a significant industry issue of waterway pollution.

Our facility is certified to international standards for environmental management, reflecting our commitment to reducing water use, improving energy efficiency, and enhancing waste recycling through continuous improvement.

Using Cleaner Energy

Cleaner Electricity: Our distillery uses more than 90% renewable electricity. By purchasing Certified Renewable Green Credits from wind farms, we’ve reduced indirect carbon emissions at our distillery by 90% over the past 10 years.

93% Reduction in Emissions: Over the last 10 years, we have cut our greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) by 93% by fuel substitution with the use of our biomass boiler, in operation since 2015.
